Amazing Structures

Welcome to amazingstructures.info. This is my pet project to map all the amazing buildings, bridges, stadia or indeed any amazing human made structures.

Some look great as they stand alone, others fantastic within their environment but mostly each stands on it's own as a feat of engineering.

To Engineer is Human

This site exists so we can celebrate the great human achievement in creating such wonderful structures, whether that enables us to watch a sports game or cross a river in 500 metres instead of going the long way round.

However, no matter how much success we have creating such structures we still have to remember that it doesn't always go to plan - the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge gives us an example of this. Looking on the bright side, here's the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

The subtitle for this site is taken from a book by Henry Petroski in which he describes both the good and the bad side of engineering such large structures.
